BULLDOG DATE AND NAME CHANGE
Wolverhampton and South Staffs Car Club has announced that next year’s Bulldog Rally will run on Saturday 28th March 2009. Subject to various approvals the event will be called Rally Cymru, with the national rally retaining the Bulldog title.The popular special stage rally will engage more of the north Wales region as well as the classic mid Wales forest stages. The club has made the decision to vie for the rally’s inclusion in both the Tesco 99 Octane MSA British Rally Championship and the Dunlop/Gambia MSA British Historic Rally Championship.
Quote from Rally Manager Kevin Witton, “We have made the decision for several reasons: We would like the event to be part of the British and Historic Rally Championships and this date fits well with their calendars. We also recognise the need for a quality international rally in North Wales and the March date supports the region in a quiet period in the tourism season, as well as avoiding clashes with other Welsh autumn events.”

The willingness of the organisers of the Bulldog Rally and WSSCC, the date change to late March and their aspiration to be one of the best special stage rallies in the UK have provided a big leap forward towards securing a place in our 2009 calendar."
